From 40°C to 29°C! Malta & Gozo to cool down as Force 7 winds roll in next week
After a week of relentless heat, there’s finally some relief on the horizon!

Malta and Gozo have been sweltering under intense summer temperatures, with the mercury soaring to 40°C and a real-feel of 42°C yesterday. With the heat expected to linger through Friday, many are eagerly looking forward to the upcoming change in weather – and we’ve got good news.

Starting this weekend, according to Maltese Islands Weather, things will begin to cool down slightly. Saturday will still hit the high 30s, but by Sunday, we’ll see a notable dip, with daytime temperatures dropping to a high of 33°C and nighttime lows of 23°C, as northwesterly winds start picking up – reaching Force 6 by Sunday evening.

The cool-down continues into next week. On Monday, the mercury is expected to reach 31°C, and by Tuesday 29th July, temperatures could dip to just 29°C – unusually low for the end of July.

This refreshing change is thanks to strong northwest winds, which are expected to persist through early next week and intensify to Force 7 by Tuesday evening.

An important point to note: as winds strengthen, the sea conditions will become rough from Sunday night onwards, so it’s advised to avoid swimming and boat trips early next week for safety.

While the respite may be brief, it’s certainly a welcome break for both locals and visitors looking to enjoy summer without the scorching extremes. Make sure to keep applying that sunblock though, as the UV index will remain high throughout.

Looking forward to a break from the heat?
