It was another proud weekend for Maltese motorsport as karting prodigy Jacob Micallef continued his podium streak with a fantastic performance in Jesolo, near Venice in Italy. Competing in the Champions of the Future Academy series, Jacob finished second on Saturday 5th June, before powering to a remarkable first-place finish on Sunday in the OK-N Junior Class, outperforming 36 drivers from across the globe.

This win marks Jacob's fourth consecutive podium, further reinforcing his reputation as one of Malta’s brightest motorsport talents. His consistency and skill on the international circuit have earned him a current standing of 22nd place in the FIA International Karting classification, a significant achievement out of 822 registered drivers.

The Jesolo track also welcomed two more Maltese talents: Benjamin Westwood and Benjamin Borg Irima. The former, who raced in the same category as Jacob, delivered a solid performance, initially crossing the line in seventh place, only to be bumped down to 15th place after receiving a 5-second penalty.

Meanwhile, Benjamin Borg Irima competed in the highly competitive OK-N Senior Class. After a strong start that saw him climb to eighth place, his race was unfortunately cut short. A collision caused by another driver led to a safety flag and the eventual disqualification of the at-fault competitor, forcing Benjamin to withdraw from the race.

Despite the challenges, the Maltese presence in Jesolo was definitely hard to miss!

Well done to Jacob and the two Benjamins!
