Feels like 6°C! Three days before meteorological winter begins, Malta is already feeling the chill
It will be a cold, windy & wet welcome for December.

Francesca Vella

As you might have already surmised, November will be wrapping up on a wet and wintry note as unstable weather continues across the islands. The Meteorological Office is forecasting more isolated showers today, Friday 28th November, some of which could be thundery and may even produce more hail, following last night’s impressive performance.

This bout of unsettled weather is being driven by a low-pressure system sitting over the central Mediterranean, expected to shift eastwards from tomorrow.

Malta Met Office

While November still hasn’t reached its average monthly rainfall of 89 mm, the final days of the month, and the start of December, are looking damp and breezy.

The weekend is forecast to bring more isolated showers, along with rather strong northwesterly winds, increasing to Force 4–5 starting and persisting until Sunday morning.

Temperatures will also take a dip, with daytime highs between 18°C and 16°C (very close to December’s average of 17.2°C) and nighttime lows between 13°C and 12°C, though the wind will make it feel even colder, especially after dark. In fact, last night’s real-feel temperature hit a chilly 6°C!

Monday 1st December is expected to be partly cloudy, but more unstable weather may return later in the week.

Bundle up – winter’s arriving early this year!
