Strong winds have caused high swell across the ferries' paths.
Travel between Malta and Gozo has hit a temporary rough patch today, as high seas and strong swell due to the gusty winds have disrupted ferry operations. The operators of the Gozo Highspeed Ferry have announced that the last trip from Mġarr will depart at 14:45, while all trips from Valletta are cancelled until further notice.
High swell in the harbour can also affect trips to Sliema and the Three Cities. While no official cancellations have been announced yet, it’s best to check the respective ferry Facebook pages before heading out.
The Ċirkewwa-Gozo Ferry has also been impacted – ferries are taking the longer, more protected, route behind Comino, which is adding extra travel time and causing delays.
If you’re planning a trip to Gozo or other ferry destinations, it might be worth rescheduling or preparing for extra travel time.
Safety first, and keep an eye on updates for the latest info!
