Malta has lost one of its beloved figures with the passing of Louis ‘Wigi’ Pace, aged 77 - founder of the renowned Wigi’s Kitchen in St Julian’s and a former Maltese international footballer.

Louis Wigi Pace passes away

Before becoming a celebrated restaurateur, Wigi was a respected defender for Valletta Football Club and represented Malta’s national team five times in the 1970s, including the historic 1971 match against England at Wembley.

At Wigi’s, a restaurant ranked number one in St Julian’s on TripAdvisor, Louis worked closely with his son Beppe, along with Chefs Neil and Clayton, to create a family-run establishment known for its warm atmosphere and artisanal Mediterranean cuisine.

His legacy lives on through his family, the restaurant’s loyal team, and the countless guests who felt at home under his care.

Rest easy, Louis!
