Giorgio’s Valletta outlet will have a wider variety of takeaway options and a grab and go fridge catered to office workers
Sliema’s iconic bistro Giorgio’s is expanding, with a new outlet set to open in the heart of Valletta.
Giorgio's outlet on the corner of Bisazza Street has stood firm since 1987. As businesses around it came and went and Maltese society itself underwent rapid changes, Giorgio’s remained a constant presence.
A popular coffee haunt for the Sliema community, you will always find people there come rain or shine.
However, it is now venturing into new waters and will open a new outlet in Valletta’s Republic Street, on the corner with South Street.
Giorgio’s owner Jean Claude Farrugia tells GuideMeMalta that the Valletta outlet will have a different menu from the Sliema one, with a wider variety of takeaway options and a grab and go fridge specifically catered to offices in the capital.
Diners can expect a more refined yet relaxed lunch menu during the day, followed by an elevated evening offering that will retain some of the Sliema outlet’s classic favourites.
“Naturally coffee and sweets will remain the heart of our business, but we intend to expand beyond the confines of a cafe and venture more into that of a bistro too,” he said.
This new venture comes soon after Giorgio’s Sliema outlet reopened following months of refurbishment works.
While there is no official opening date for the Valletta outlet yet, it is expected to open in mid-July.
