The story takes a look at the final days of Jesus, uniquely told from the perspective of Judas, set to a score that brings together rock and soul in some stunning solo and ensemble numbers. This fresh take explores themes of faith, fame, betrayal, and revolution, resonating deeply with audiences, particularly during Easter time.
Under the visionary direction of Chris Gatt, the production promises an edgy, modern flair, reflected in the cast photos featuring Francesco Nicodeme as Jesus, being arrested while bound in modern handcuffs. Sean Borg plays the complex and conflicted Judas, while Sarah Mercieca portrays the unforgettable Mary Magdalene. They will be joined by a stellar supporting cast, including Raphael Pace as the fabulous King Herod, Joseph Zammit, Sean Kamati, Ryan Grech, Jake Curti, and Albert Buttigieg.
With Kris Spiteri as musical director, the unforgettable songs that have defined this rock-opera genre – including hits like 'Gethsemane', 'I Don’t Know How to Love Him', and 'Superstar' – will come to life on stage with high-energy choreography by Sandra Mifsud and Douglas Comley, and will undoubtedly have you singing on your way out of the theatre.
