As Miriana Conte prepares to take the Eurovision stage tonight for the second semi-final, Malta’s powerhouse performer is turning heads far beyond Europe, even catching the attention of E! News in the United States!

Despite the U.S. not participating in Eurovision, it seems the buzz around Malta’s entry has crossed the Atlantic, with E! News highlighting the now-infamous controversy surrounding the song’s original lyrics.

In an article titled ‘Eurovision 2025: Untangling Malta's ‘C-Word’ Controversy’, writer Bentley Maddox dives into the decision by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) to alter the lyrics of Miriana’s song, which originally included the Maltese word ‘kant’, meaning ‘singing’. While harmless in Maltese, its pronunciation sparked a stir due to its double entendre in English.

E! News noted how Miriana, however, handled the situation with class and confidence. Referenced in a TikTok interview, the singer embraced the change with good humour and grace, promising to maintain the song’s diva energy – and judging by the reactions, she certainly has!

As the big night approaches, Miriana is already being named among the fan favourites, with none other than last year’s Eurovision winner Nemo listing her as a top pick. The stage is set, and Malta’s star is more than ready to shine.

Break a leg tonight, Miriana – we’re rooting for you!
