It's time for the annual Persied meteor shower once again!
As with previous years, the Astronomical Society of Malta shall be organizing an observation night event on the night of the shower's peak, between the 12th and 13th of August. We shall also, once again, be collaborating with the Institute of Space Sciences and Astronomy from the University of Malta for the night.
This year, we shall be setting up at Dwejra, the darkest night sky location in the Maltese islands and a dark sky heritage site. We will have our cameras set up to capture a few Perseid meteors as they enter the Earth's atmosphere, and a few telescopes for those attending to use. Everyone is welcome to join us!
Since the Perseid meteor shower peaks after midnight, we will be there from 10pm onwards. As it will be a new moon on the day, this year will provide a better chance to view some Perseid meteors than last year!
We look forward to seeing you all there!
