Crisis reveals and exposes our limitations. Hope transforms them, pointing us toward a deeper and more meaningful renewal. This talk invites participants to reflect deeply on how crisis is not an end but an opening and an invitation to transformation through hope. Here, Dr Robert Farrugia will explore the interplay of crisis and hope primarily through the lenses of phenomenology. He will examine how crises—whether existential, societal, or spiritual—are experienced in human consciousness and how authentic hope emerges as a response that transcends mere optimism and wishful thinking. Engaging with numerous thinkers, this talk aims to uncover how crisis reveals the fragility of human existence while also pointing toward a transformative hope beyond despair rooted in trust, meaning, and relationality as the triumph of life over crisis.
