Prof. Charmaine Gauci, the islands’ Superintendent of Public Health has excelled in her role and has lead the way during the COVID-19 pandemic. In honour of this, MP Alex Muscat put forward the idea that Prof. Gauci should be considered for “the highest honour of our country.”

He said that is just for her to receive the Gieh ir-Repubblika award for “the worthy service she gave our country and our people. Charmaine Gauci is the face of our country’s fight against this pandemic.”

“She represents thousands of people who fight for our health every day. I believe, that on behalf of all the frontliners who gave their support to overcome this challenge, this honour should be a recognition of their work.”
