Could it be? New Agatha Christie trailer drops HUGE hints about locations used in TV series
Those landscapes look incredibly familiar…

The past year has been a hectic one for local film servicing companies. Multiple international productions have used the island’s dedicated crews and spectacular landscapes to bring a Mediterranean touch to the screen and the latest to benefit from this has now been revealed as none other than British TV series Agatha and the Curse of Ishtar.

The series stars Lyndsey Marshal as Agatha Christie and is joined by an incredible lineup featuring among others the future Prince Eric in Disney’s live action remake of the Little Mermaid, Jonah Hauer-King, and Sanditon’s Miss Lambe, Crystal Clarke.

Malta doesn’t just feature in a couple of shots but takes centre stage in the recently released trailer. From Malta’s seas, to our traditional yet rapidly diminishing architecture and rocky landscapes, everything about the trailer points towards our beloved islands.

Despite the extensive use of Maltese landscapes, the islands do not feature under their own name. Rather, the film’s synopsis reveals that Malta was utilised as a stand-in for the country of Iraq in what the lead actress describes as “a festive and fruity murder-mystery.”

Fans of Agatha Christie do not have long to wait before they can immerse themselves in the series. The first episode will premier on British Channel 5 this Sunday 15th December at 9pm British time, which translates to 10pm local time. It will also be preceded by an hour-long  docu-series titled Inside The Mind of Agatha Christie, whose first episode airs on the same day and channel at 9pm local time.
