Cooler, windier days ahead! Malta is set for a brief break from the heat with possible showers
If, like us, you need a break from this never-ending heatwave, we’ve got just the perfect news for you! According to Maltese Islands Weather, a shift in weather is expected this week across the Maltese Islands, as an intense low-pressure system moves over the Balkans and Eastern Europe.
This system will drag a cold front across Italy and extend its influence southwards, affecting local conditions from Wednesday 9th July through Sunday 13th July.
Following recent highs of 35°C to 36°C, temperatures will dip slightly, settling between 30°C and 32°C; values that are around or even slightly below the seasonal average. While still warm, this break from the more intense heat will bring some relief to the islands.
Wednesday will be particularly breezy, with strong north-westerly winds reaching Force 6. These gusts will make their presence felt throughout the day, adding a fresher feel to the atmosphere.
By Thursday 10th July, the arrival of colder air in the upper atmosphere will interact with the warm Mediterranean Sea, creating localised instability. This may result in increased cloud cover over central parts of Malta, with the chance of isolated rain showers around midday and into the afternoon. According to this popular weather page, the exact location and intensity of these showers remain uncertain and will become clearer closer to the day.
This brief spell of unsettled weather is expected to be short-lived. From Monday 14th July onwards, very warm and sunny conditions are forecast to return, bringing back more typical summer weather.
Are you looking forward to this short break from the heat?
