Competition launched to select Maltese & Gozitan cribs for Washington DC museum exhibition
How cool is this! Maltese and Gozitan cribs are in the chance of being selected for an exhibition at the international renowned Museum of the Bible in Washington DC.
The Ministry for National Heritage, the Arts and Local Government, through the Directorate of Culture has been in negotiations with the museum in recent months and have now come to an agreement: a number of cribs from the Maltese Islands can be exhibited in this museum between November 2020 and January 2021, with the eventuality that the crib that places first will have the honour of remaining on display inside the museum as part of the permanent collection.
It’s competition time!
The Directorate of Culture is therefore launching a competition in order to select no more than 10 Maltese and Gozitan cribs, with the aim of giving Maltese and Gozitan crib artists further international recognition for their impeccable and intricate skills.
Important! Cribs entering the competition must be ready and delivered to the place indicated by the Directorate by Tuesday 15th September 2020. And get this! The Ministry has also reached an agreement so that one crib artist for each selected crib will have the trip Malta-Washington-Malta paid for on an Economy Class basis. Sweet!
“Through this exhibition, we will be giving the opportunity and opening this tradition to Maltese and Gozitan crib-artists, so that Maltese works and traditions are more recognised around the world, especially in the field of religious tourism," Minister Herrera said.
