Celebrate the festive season in true Maltese style at Heritage Malta’s ‘Christmas at the Fort’! This enchanting event, held at Fort St. Elmo in Valletta, will immerse visitors in the warmth and traditions of a Maltese Christmas, offering two days of activities, entertainment, and seasonal cheer.

The event runs from 9am to 11.30pm on Saturday 30th November and from 9am to 8pm on Sunday, 1st December.

As visitors step into the beautifully decorated fort, they’ll be greeted by traditional Maltese Christmas displays, including a charming crib scene, symbolising the heart of Maltese holiday heritage. The food stalls will be serving local delicacies and holiday treats, from mulled wine to imbuljuta, a beloved chocolate and chestnut drink, as well as live chocolate sculpting displays, sure to delight all ages.

The artisan market is a perfect place to find unique gifts, with local artists selling handmade crafts and seasonal items. Children will find holiday magic with games, interactive sessions, and photo opportunities with Santa, along with a chance to send their letters and win special prizes.

Highlights include a moving Baby Jesus procession on Saturday evening, set to the music of the King’s Own Philharmonic Society, and a special Sunday morning mass. Throughout the weekend, live entertainment abounds with singers, choirs, and bands filling the fort with music, including a grand Christmas concert by the Malta Police Force Band to conclude the festivities on Sunday.

Workshops and interactive lectures, such as Noel Buttigieg’s sessions on traditional Christmas foods and the National War Museum Archives Tour, offer rich insights into Maltese holiday history and customs.

Organised under the patronage of Her Excellency the President of Malta, the event supports the Malta Community Chest Fund Foundation, encouraging donations to aid charitable efforts.

Entry is free, with a pet-friendly policy (on leashes), and a convenient shuttle service from Floriana Park and Ride to Fort St. Elmo.
