Celebrate the Maltese Imnarja feast under the stars in the heritage site of Ghar Dalam
L-Imnarja on our islands (while a public holiday that many look forward to), celebrates the feast of St Peter and St Paul, including also traditional customs like horse and donkey races in Rabat, and a festival of light in Buskett Gardens.
This year, Heritage Malta is organising a superb night under the stars between Friday 28th and Saturday 29th June at the prehistoric site (and oldest one on the island) of Ghar Dalam in Birzebbuga. Visitors are invited to participate in captivating visits to nearby historical and archaeological sites and taste delicious Maltese food.
The family event will include visits to the incredible sites of Borg in-Nadur, the Ghar Dalam Cave itself, the Roman remains at Ta’ Kaccatura, and Casa Ippolito.
After the guided tours, you can either venture out to the Ghar Dalam site to sleep under the stars, or if you’re not too keen on camping outdoors, you can also opt to sleep within the museum among the ancient animal bones. Take your pick!
Tickets are selling at €30 for adults, €25 for senior citizens, students and children, and €20 for Heritage Malta members, and are available from all Heritage Malta sites and museums as well as on their website.
The intriguing event starts at 7pm on Friday and will end at around 9am on Saturday. Don’t forget to wear comfortable clothing, and bring along your own mattress, sleeping bag or tent to get comfortable under the stars!
