In 2005, legendary film director Stephen Spielberg was on the islands to shoot the blockbuster movie Munich. One of the filming locations was Valletta’s iconic Caffe Cordina and after shooting there, Spielberg himself left a handwritten note to John Cordina, thanking him for his hospitality, which has been shared by the Caffe’s Facebook page today!

“Stephen Spielberg, the famous Hollywood Director shot a few scenes of his blockbuster movie Munich here at Caffe Cordina. He also left a lovely comment about our famous Nougat. Thank you, Stephen, you’re more than welcome back at our Caffe!” the Facebook post reads.

“You were more than accommodating when you opened your cafe to us at seven in the morning where we enjoyed espressos and cappuccinos and a rich lesson in Maltese history,” Spielberg’s note reads which addresses John Cordina, current Chairman of the Caffe and son of the original founder. “Also, the nougat was the best I ever had,” he admits.
