Michelle Curmi reportedly uttered the word “Ma” three days before her life support was switched off after being declared brain dead. Ms Curmi was involved in a biker crash on 17th May and suffered head injuries.

“I’ll never forget that word. I wiped away her tears and told her to calm down to get better,” her mother, Doris said in comments to Times of Malta, recalling what happened on Sunday morning and sharing that Michelle hated hospitals.

The next day, the family was informed that she wasn’t breathing alone anymore and was in a coma. “We could not bear to be inside and watch her die. It took 20 minutes,” Michelle’s father, Louis told Times of Malta. “She was a good girl. She was kind and everyone loved her. We lost an angel,” the 32-year-old’s mother shared.

Ms Curmi’s parents said they would have liked to keep her on a ventilator a little while longer “to give her a chance” but doctors explained there was no hope. On Wednesday night, her parents and long-time partner James Delmar said their goodbyes.

“She was amazing,” James shared. “We had so many plans for the future. We had bought a home together which we were doing up.”
