Battle of the snack packs! Will TWISTEES or KRIPS be named Malta’s favourite snack?
Which beloved snack will come out on top?

Sarah Micallef

After countless rounds and thousands of votes (nope, we’re not exaggerating!), its crunch time for a local social media competition aimed at finding Malta’s favourite snack.

The stage is set on local Facebook group The Salott, and the players are two: salty “tghoma t’ilma bahar” Krips and cheesy “national treasure” Twistees – um, can you tell we’re biased?

Previous rounds pitched several local favourites against each other, all for them to drop like flies, round after round. Since the competition kicked off, local gems like Gobblers, Chimpeys, Crix, Jungle Sticks and Pom Poms have been sent crying home to their mothers, and Tastees, Bacos, Blisters and Jumbo have also been shown the door.

The last two standing are Krips and Twistees, and while the two battle it out on which snack pack will reach the supreme heights of recognition as Malta’s favourite snack, we’re just going to sit back and enjoy the show.

It’s almost as good as election time on the islands, with comments like “People will realise that just because Twistees are stereotypically Maltese it doesn't mean they taste the best! Time for the true Maltese champion to shine! #ForzaKrips,” and “If Twistees loses to Krips, that would explain a lot about democracies,” being thrown about. Now, where’s that Michael Jackson eating popcorn meme when you need it?

Ah, there it is…

Only he really should be eating Twistees (or choking on Krips), shouldn’t he?

Have you voted yet?
