Back to school! Malta Public Transport’s winter schedule starts Monday 22nd September
Beach routes will stay on till 31st October, to accommodate early autumn swimmers.
With the season of autumn and the new school year kicking off next week, Malta Public Transport is rolling out its Winter Schedule starting Monday 22 September. This includes the return of key routes serving universities and post-secondary colleges, as well as adjustments in service frequency on several weekday routes.
From 22 September, the following routes will resume to coincide with the start of the scholastic year: X1A (Ċirkewwa – University of Malta), 150 (Lascaris – MCAST), and 207 (Marsa P&R – Naxxar Higher Secondary).
At the same time, some routes will see increased weekday frequencies. These include Route 43 (Valletta – Naxxar), Route 61 (Valletta – Ħaż-Żebbuġ), Route 72 (Valletta – Qrendi), and Route 73 (Valletta – Żurrieq). Meanwhile, several other routes, such as 212 (Tas-Sliema – Buġibba), 221 (Buġibba – Ċirkewwa), 222 (Tas-Sliema – Ċirkewwa), 223 (Buġibba – Għajn Tuffieħa), 225 (Tas-Sliema – Għajn Tuffieħa), 310 (Rabat, Gozo – Dwejra), 322 (Mġarr – Marsalforn), and 53 (Valletta – Rabat), will revert to their winter frequency. From 1st November, weekend frequencies on select routes will also be adjusted.
For those still enjoying the last days of summer, beach routes – 109, 49, 74, and 101 (serving Armier, Blue Grotto, Lapsi-Baħrija, Ġnejna, and Ramla) – will remain extended until 31st October.
Passengers can continue to enjoy free travel on the Day Routes, Night Routes, and Special Services using their personalised Tallinja Card. Remember to tap your card each time you board. Cash or contactless ticket purchases are also available on board, with the winter cash fare returning to €2.00 from 19th October.
Timetables at affected bus stops will be updated to reflect all winter schedule changes, making it easier to plan your journeys across Malta and Gozo.
