Back again: Russell Crowe marks return to Malta with cryptic tweets
Welcome back, Russell!

Hollywood A-lister Russell Crowe has, once again, marked his return to the Maltese islands with a series of cryptic tweets.

The first of said tweets – consisting of a blurry image of a Maltese church dome and the caption ‘where am I now?’ – went out as far back as Saturday 8th October.

Since then, the Oscar-winning actor has kept returning to the social media platform on a quasi-daily basis to share similarly obscure images of the island.

An image posted on Sunday 9th October shows the Gozo Channel ferry at sunset, whilst a couple of others posted on the same day show the full moon shining bright over the islands.

The most recent image from his Malta series - depicting a sole sailor aboard a small boat – was published just this morning, together with a caption reading “good morning, Malta.”

Russell Crowe was last in Malta in July 2022, when he dined with Malta Film Commissioner Johann Grech.

"Russell Crowe is back in MALTA! Always an honour to see you return to Malta for the third time in a few months,” Mr Grech had written.

“Each time speaking about our potential in the global film industry. Russell Crowe, you have become a constant mentor to our journey in creating a world-class film industry in Malta," he continued.

Crowe was visiting the islands shortly after the premiere of one of his latest films – ‘Prizefighter: The Life of Jem Belcher’. Said film, which follows the 19th century store of a young boxer who became the champion of England, was partially shot in Malta and featured a handful of local actors.
