Heritage Malta are organising three boat trips around Filfla on the 14th and 21st of July, and on the 18th of August, for anyone who would like to discover more about the islet.
The Senior Curator of the Natural History Unit, John J. Borg, has been studying the island since 1982, and will be presenting those onboard with stories of Filfla’s past as well as information on how it was formed, and the flora and fauna that inhabit it today.
It is important to note that attendees will not be disembarking on the islet itself or swimming around it, as access to Filfla is only possible for educational or scientific purposes, subject to prior permission from the Environment and Resources Authority.
Filfla is found 4.5 kilometres south of Malta and is the southernmost point of the entire Maltese Archipelago. It is known to have seabirds, turtles and dolphins roaming its surrounding seas and skies, so anyone who joins this trip might be in for a treat sighting!
The boat trips will be departing from Sliema Ferries at 10am and returning to the same location at 5pm – don’t forget your sunblock!
