Abandoned dog left ‘waiting’ for owner on airport roundabout is rescued
The fox terrier was seen seated, seemingly waiting for owner to return, since 4pm yesterday.

It’s a happy ending to a sad story that started yesterday afternoon, when local animal welfare page Rescued is my Favorite Breed – Malta was tagged in a post about a seemingly abandoned dog in the area of the airport roundabout in Gudja.

“We were told she had been by the airport roundabout since 4pm at least (seated, seemingly waiting for her "owner" to come back,” shared the page, in a heart-rending post. “A dog waiting in the same area that long has got to be a case of abandonment.”

It sparked a search for the missing dog, which was nowhere to be seen when volunteers went to the scene to look – and now, it seems that the little dog has been found!

In a post shared by the page a few minutes ago, the sweet foxy is shown cradling her rescuer as she is taken to Animal Welfare. The sweet girl has been christened Lucy, and her rescuers hope to re-home her to a “loving family she deserves.”

We’re so glad you’re safe, little one!
