Guess who’s back...back again? The picturesque village of Żebbuġ in Gozo has just welcomed the return of the beautiful religious statue of Santa Marija Assunta after some restoration works were carried out on it.

The statue had been in the parish of Żebbug for 160 years and during these years no restoration work had ever been done to it. This statue is also the first one on the island of Gozo that depicts the figure of Santa Marija, and it was also made in Marseille in France in 1863.

The village of Żebbuġ in Gozo is steeped in various traditions and views from among the most beautiful of the Maltese islands. The local council held an event in which it inaugurated the statue, and it was given a well-deserved welcome which hundreds of people attended with enthusiasm.
