The islands were put on the red list following a worrying spike in cases last July
It’s great news for everyone that’s been working hard to limit the spread of COVID-19 on the island and return life to some sort of normalcy – the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control has officially removed Malta from its red travel list!
Having been put on the red list following a worrying spike in cases last July – in tandem with the easing of several restrictions – the island has been on the right track since then, with the number of new cases finally plateauing.
Because of these efforts, Malta now finds itself on the EU’s ‘safer’ orange travel list.

Currently, Malta’s rate of new cases per 100,000 people stands at 182.87, with the death rate coming in at 15.55 per 100,000.
Earlier today, local health authorities announced that the island registered a total of 54 new cases of COVID-19, whilst two people sadly passed away.
As we continue to battle the pandemic, it’s certainly a step in the right direction towards a return to normalcy!
