Thursday 19th August: Two COVID-19 patients pass away as Malta registers 86 new cases
Malta’s COVID-19 death toll now stands at 435.

The Health Authority’s Facebook page, Sahha, has published today's figures. Malta has registered 86 new cases of COVID-19 after 3,496 swabs were done in the past 24 hours.

The islands have registered 56 recoveries, meaning the total recovery tally stands at 34,128. These numbers bring the total number of active cases up to 643.

Since the outbreak, Malta has recorded 35,602 cases and has performed 1,152,894 swab tests.

Unfortunately, two deaths were registered: a 96-year-old female and a 79-year-old male. The death toll now stands at 435.

The post also noted that until yesterday, 18th August, 788,292 vaccine doses had been administered to people in Malta.

409,498 of these were first doses while 407,154 people are now fully vaccinated.

A total of 32 COVID-19 patients are being treated at Mater Dei, with two currently in ITU.
