A magical evening! Chameleon Night promises an enchanting wildlife adventure at Simar Nature Reserve this November
BirdLife Malta is inviting nature lovers, families, and curious explorers to experience the hidden wonders of the natural world during its upcoming Chameleon Night at the Simar Nature Reserve.
Inspired by the enchanting tone of ‘Arabian Nights,’ this special evening event aims to bring guests into the quiet, mystical atmosphere of the reserve after dark, when some of Malta’s most elusive creatures emerge.
The highlight of the night will be the opportunity to search for the Mediterranean chameleon, a species known for its camouflage skills and secretive behaviour. Guided by BirdLife Malta’s expert team, participants will take part in a safe and family-friendly adventure, learning about nocturnal wildlife and the delicate ecosystems that thrive after sunset. Visitors are encouraged to bring a torch equipped with a red light, ideal for observing wildlife without disturbing it, though equipment will also be provided on site.
Organisers emphasise that Simar is a protected nature reserve rather than a zoo, meaning wildlife sightings, while possible, are never guaranteed. What is guaranteed, however, is an unforgettable experience that connects participants with nature in a rare and intimate way.
As with all outdoor events, Chameleon Night may be postponed or cancelled in the case of bad weather. With limited spaces available, BirdLife Malta encourages early booking to avoid disappointment.
Have you ever seen a chameleon, out and about, in nature?
