Get the teapot out for these page-turners.
The best way to welcome the autumn tranquility is to find the comfiest spot imaginable - maybe your living room on the cooler days or your garden when the sun's out to play - and settle down with a book. And there are some books that you simply can’t put aside till the final chapter comes to a close. Here are some of my favourite autumn reads to keep you occupied.
Harry Potter series
Whether you’re a serious business man or a happy-go-lucky kid, the Harry Potter series is most definitely a winner. There’s not much to dislike in the magical world of Hogwarts where good always prevails.
Jane Eyre
Jane Eyre is an addictive classic written by Charlotte Bronte. This 19th century novel unveils the challenging life of the orphaned Jane as she figures out her meaning for life.
Alice in Wonderland
Lewis Carroll at his best! Alice in Wonderland transports you to a world of adventure, a far away place tucked away in your imagination. Join the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party, brew yourself a cuppa and flick through the pages.
The Boy in the Striped Pajamas
A tale of compassion, struggle and friendship. The Boy in the Striped Pajamas is a novel by John Boyne that tells the story of eight-year-old Bruno as he faced the terrors of World War II.
The Goldfinch
A story of tragedy, survival and art. Donna Tartt’s The Goldfinch focuses on Theodore Decker’s journey, as he adjusts into his new life after his mother’s death.
The Secret Garden
An oldie - but a goodie. The Secret Garden may very well be one of your childhood favourites, the mystery and wonder that surround Frances Hodgson Burnett’s novel is incredible.
Some classics, some based on facts, others sillier than you can ever imagine. Sit back, relax, read, repeat.
