4 must-do family outings to enjoy during the Christmas holidays in Malta
Where to go and what to do during the festive season for some all-round family fun?

Melanie Drury

Wondering about kid-friendly things to do during the seasonal school holidays? Make Christmas with the kids extra special this year with these family outings that will offer memorable moments you'll all remember fondly. Christmas-themed, imaginative, fun and educational, these are our top four 'must-do' family activities to enjoy during the Christmas holidays.

Valletta Waterfront

The Valletta Waterfront is also geared up for the whole family with activities for all ages running for a whole month from Saturday 30th November until Tuesday 31st December 2019. Pick and choose from an events programme that offers a lovely variety of free indoor and outdoor activities for all ages throughout December, culminating on New Year's Eve. Check out the giant Christmas tree, Santa’s house, workshop and enchanted snow garden, a miniature Christmas village, children choirs and festive marching bands among other things. New Year 2020 can be welcomed by the whole family with live bands and a DJ, children’s entertainment and fireworks.

Santa’s Toy Town @ Popeye Village

In a hidden corner of Sweethaven Village, the original Popeye film set in Malta that's home to Popeye, Olive and Bluto, Santa's elves have taken up the task of making toys for the children in this side of the world. Having a base in Malta saves the poor reindeer some of the effort so they don't have to carry so many presents all the way from Santa Claus Village in Rovaniemi in Lapland, Finland, right? Visiting the workshop is a delight for children and rekindles the inner child of adults too! That Santa’s Toy Town is located within Popeye Village is an extra delightful bonus.

Malta National Aquarium

A different world is not confined to the realms of fantasy. Indeed, a different world on the same planet exists under the sea, and this comes to the surface at the Malta National Aquarium, which does not cease to amaze anyone of any age at any time of year.  But Christmas at the Aquarium includes even more fun activities. From 21st December to 5th January, events held at the aquarium will include Letters to Santa with Santa present, breakfast with Santa for children and adults, 'Fishes and Wishes', including an arts and crafts station, and face-painting again with the arts and crafts station.

Esplora Interactive Science Centre

Any day at Esplora Interactive Science Centre offers plenty of opportunity to explore within the world of science. But 24th December to 5th January also bring a jam-packed seasonal programme, including Christmas-themed science shows and workshops to celebrate the magic of both Christmas and science! After all, popping in a little bit of education makes it even more interesting for both the kiddos and the adults, an outing for all the family to enjoy and learn from!

Let us know which of these you and your kids enjoyed the most!
