A €3,000 fine will be applicable to event organisers who breach social distancing measures of COVID-19, and will be reportedly coming into effect tonight once the legal notice is published, the Times has reported. This comes following a spike in cases as well as pressure from doctors and nurses who were threatening industrial action.

This follows new mitigation rules that came into effect last Friday which limits events to one person per four square metres and clusters of 10 people, among other new measures.

“Any event organiser who fails to abide by the provisions of these regulations shall be guilty of an offence and shall, on conviction, be liable to the payment of a penalty of three thousand euro (€3,000) for each and every instance in which these regulations are breached,” the legal notice reads.

Check out the legal notice here.
