19-year-old described as “rare talent” by Joseph Calleja to give solo Christmas concert
Charles Buttigieg has been accepted into the prestigious Curtis Institute in Philadelphia.
Charles Buttigieg is a 19-year-old Gozitan baritone (yes, you read that right), who will be presenting his first ever solo performance on home soil since being accepted into the prestigious Curtis Institute in Philadelphia, USA. The concert will be held at the Kempinksi Hotel San Lawrenz in Gozo on 28th December.

The prodigious baritone has been supported by the BOV Joseph Calleja Foundation, and has been described by the Maltese Tenor himself as a “rare talent”. Just last month, Charles was invited to sing at a high-end private event in New York, in the presence of soprano Renee Flemings and mezzo soprano Dolora Zajick, both world-renowned.

“I feel privileged to be in the company of renowned music teachers at the Curtis Institute and have already learnt a great deal since I arrived.” Charles also expressed his gratitude towards the BOV Joseph Calleja Foundation. “Trying to become a professional singer and being away from family and friends is not easy, but I am greatly encouraged by the support I receive on a continuous basis from the BOV Joseph Calleja Foundation and Joseph himself,” the young singer said.
