A milestone moment for travel in Malta.

As 2025 draws to an end, Malta International Airport has reached a major milestone, officially welcoming its 10 millionth passenger – a first in the airport’s history and a sign of just how connected the islands have become.

The announcement was shared by MIA, marking what the airport described as a proud achievement that reinforces its commitment to continued investment and service excellence. With Malta welcoming visitors year-round for leisure, business and events, the figure highlights the airport’s growing role at the heart of the country’s tourism.

Behind the headline number lies the work of hundreds of people keeping operations running smoothly every single day. From frontline staff assisting passengers to teams working behind the scenes, MIA stressed that the milestone was only possible thanks to the collective effort, professionalism and teamwork of its employees and partners.

Malta International Airport CEO Alan Borg described the moment as a historic one for the airport and for Malta:

‘Reaching this historic milestone for Malta International Airport in 2025 is a powerful reminder of the progress we continue to make, and the role our airport plays in supporting Malta’s connectivity and tourism.’
