Unbelievable! It’s been exactly eleven years since Malta transformed into a Winter Wonderland

This year's December has had its fair share of chilly days and nights, but exactly eleven years ago today, Malta woke up to something quite unusual for a Mediterranean island like ours.

After extremely cold temperatures, Malta became a winter wonderland after heavy hail covered the country, changing fields from green to white. Some excited children and adults alike even proceeded to make little ice-men!

Ever since then, rainfall in December has always been less than the average (104.8mm). December of 2022 was the driest month of all time after only 7mm of rain fell throughout the whole month. 

Who knows what the New Year will bring…
