Malta’s own Roberta Metsola has once again earned international recognition, after being named among Corriere della Sera’s ‘Women of the Year’ for 2025 – a prestigious list curated by one of Italy’s most read newspapers.

The European Parliament President was selected for her growing influence on the global political stage, with writer Francesca Basso from Corriere highlighting her ‘remarkable diplomatic skills’ and ‘innate empathy’ as defining features of her leadership style. The publication describes Roberta Metsola as the ‘pro-European face of the EU abroad’, praising her firm and visible stance in support of Ukraine, where she has remained consistently ‘at the forefront’ of diplomatic efforts.

The profile also shines a light on her ability to navigate Brussels’ complex political terrain, crediting her with building strong working relationships across key EU institutions. Through close collaboration with both the European Commission and the European Council, Roberta Metsola is portrayed as a unifying force capable of bringing together Europe’s major political groups during challenging times.

At just 46 years old, Metsola is described as a ‘growing star’ with a significant future ahead – a recognition that underscores her growing influence as one of Malta’s leading figures on the global stage.

Congratulations to Roberta Metsola!
