Us Maltese are known to have a great time in any given situation. And while we have our own tunes that we love (no matter how cringeworthy they are), these foreign cult songs rank high in that list when we want to (drunkenly) hit the dance floor.
1. Sweet Caroline
Neil Diamond is like a legend on the Maltese Islands. Every feast, wedding or party wouldn’t be the same without this fab song that would have everyone jumping up and down on the dance floor.
2. Volare
This chill song is on everyone’s playlist for a wedding, party or even the occasional chilled get together involving bottles and bottles of booze. We’d also be attempting to sing in Italian as best as our drunk brains could muster.
3. Hey Jude
Na, na, na, nanananaaa and anything but ‘Hey Jude’ would be sung along with this tune. Whether it is a friend’s name, a fav football club or some random thing, it will definitely be replacing ‘Hey Jude.’
4. Radio Gaga
Ah, Queen – they’ll obvs make the list. Radio Gaga was and forever will be a great hit, and the Maltese simply love it.
5. Que Sera Sera
All together now: QUE SERA, SERA! WHATEVER WILL BE, WILL BEEE! Yup, this one is another top contender.
6. Felicita
The older Maltese generation love Al Bano and this song in particular. And it’s quite the catchy bop!
7. We are the Champions
While we’re never going to sing this because of a World Cup win for Malta, many fans siding with various countries and football clubs (locally or internationally) will belt this one out at the top of their lungs when they win the league.
8. I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles)
AND I WILL WALK 500 MILES AND I WILL WALK 500 MORE! Yup, we even gave it a Maltese twist at the end...
9. Seven Nation Army
Malta is a football fanatic island so it’s no surprise this one made the list.
10. Bomba
BOOOOMBAAAA! Once this is blasted through the speakers there’s no going back. Un movimento sexyyyy...
