Youth in Malta? This Agenzija Zghazagh service wants to help YOU maximise your future
Agenzija Zghazagh is all about empowering and maximising opportunities for young people in Malta.

Benjamin Abela

Most people associate being young with a sense of unending freedom, as responsibilities are few and far between, and free time is comparatively never-ending.

Having said that, adolescence and our early adult years can prove to be downright pivotal to the rest of our adult life. Ripples from seemingly arbitrary choices we make at school, at our first place of work, or in our everyday life can often be felt later on, shaping our future in their own ways.

In light of that, it’s key that young people recognise the power they hold in defining their adult life and that they’re offered proper and unbiased guidance when making pertinent decisions.

That’s where Agenzija Zghazagh and their Eurodesk MT project come in.

Through this service, the national youth agency is looking to deliver information about funding, education, training, youth mobility, study, work, volunteering, and leisure to young people across Europe and beyond. But before we get into all that, here’s a bit about Agenzija Zghazagh…

Having recently celebrated its 10th anniversary, Agenzija Zghazagh is all about empowering and maximising opportunities for young people in Malta.

Be it through making new friends, learning new things, or developing hidden talents, this organisation encourages those who cross its path to lead an artistically, civically, and politically engaged lifestyle on both a local and European level.

That being said, it should come as no surprise that Eurodesk MT provides young people with free and tailor-made information about all of the aforementioned areas.

Apart from that, those who make use of this service can rest assured that all the information and opportunities they come across are as reliable as can be.

Eurodesk MT thrives on being present in spaces frequented by young people and collaborating with different entities that can help push said service by creating innovative and engaging initiatives.

One way you can benefit from Eurodesk MT is through the ‘Eurodesk Opportunity Finder’.

This super easy-to-use tool shows off a plethora of learning programmes, volunteering initiatives, internships, grants, and competitions that young people can participate in or make use of. So, whether you’re looking for a scholarship ahead of your overseas postgraduate course, a couple of months of volunteer work somewhere far away, or an opportunity to gain some professional experience, Eurodesk has got you covered.

All these initiatives are possible thanks to Eurodesk’s European network, offered national support in a whopping 36 countries.

Moreover, Eurodesk seeks to maintain quality service by abiding to the following 10 key principles:

  1. Working with qualified and trained staff
  2. Offering services for free
  3. Considering individuals’ requirements
  4. Providing information and guidance to all young people
  5. Providing neutral information
  6. Referring to other information services
  7. Enabling access to local and regional information all over Europe
  8. Providing information based on testimonials and true stories
  9. Referring to financial support programmes
  10. Working with verified and trusted sources

Think you can benefit from Eurodesk MT’s long list of services? Well, we’re happy to reveal that as long as you’re a young person aged eighteen and over, this initiative can teach you all you could ever know about learning mobility opportunities.

Eurodesk MT can be contacted via email on [email protected], through its social media portals, its website, and its drop in centre in Santa Venera.

Eurodesk MT also issues a monthly newsletter jam packed with various opportunities and news for young people, youth workers, youth leaders and those who work with young people.
