This initiative is intended to make culture more accessible!

A new cultural project, ‘Malta Tells’, is set to celebrate Malta's rich heritage by bringing local stories, traditions and community identity directly into public spaces through a creative mix of theatre, art and storytelling.

Over the coming weeks, towns and villages across Malta and Gozo will welcome a specially designed traditional Maltese balcony that will travel from one locality to another, serving as a unique performance stage.

The initiative is intended to make culture more accessible by taking artistic performances into the heart of communities while showcasing the history, character and heritage of each destination.

Residents and visitors alike will be invited to experience interactive performances that highlight the customs, folklore and unique identity of every locality.

Designed to travel between different locations, the balcony has been created as a flexible stage that will host artistic events throughout Malta and Gozo.

Artistic Director Ryan Galea said the balcony is intended to be much more than a performance platform. It will stand as a symbol of Maltese identity, with productions inspired by everyday life, local traditions and customs, enhanced by artistic installations and digital content that encourage audiences to discover the country's cultural heritage.
