The Shape of Volition/Facebook

This week, three exhibitions will have art lovers talking. The first, taking place all week, is Zhang Tingqun’s exhibition titled The Shape of Volition at the China Cultural Centre in Valletta, which will utilise a reductive and minimalistic style to reveal the essence of the artist’s unique mode of artistic interpretation. It will also bring viewers into close proximity with the substance of each artwork and the spiritual core of the artist. Tuesday will see the final exhibition in Malta of French artist Julien Vinet before he moves to Berlin, and will consist of all the drawings and paintings in Japanese ink on paper and glue from his studio. Finally, on Thursday, learn a bit more about the European Capital of Culture through Natalia Pośnik’s work at Blitz. A result of an exchange between the art gallery and Culture Zone Wrocław, the work will offer an attempt to characterise a city which is multi-layered, both in history and in the cultures of its inhabitants.

Keep moving and bobbing to the music:

De-stress this evening with Latin music and dancing at Kuromi in San Gwann. It will definitely be an energetic start to the week, and you can follow its up with some more drinks and chat on Tuesday at Coffee Circus in Mosta, where Aperol Spritz will be the drink everyone will be imbibing thanks to a two-for-one offer. If you’ve still got some evening energy, head to Valletta for music and drinks at the Beer Cave. Classic rock songs with an acoustic twist, pop, blues, and much more will be played, and you can even order one of their famous succulent burgers.

Keep up with the latest in music and theatre:

The Pub and WhatsTheirNames Theatre/Facebook

The classic tale performed with a twist! The Pub in Valletta may be famous for being the last place Oliver Reed enjoyed a drink, but this week there’s a bit more love and laughter in store.  Starring Joseph Zammit, Tina Rizzo, and Nathan Brimmer and directed by Philip Leone-Ganado, Much Ado About Nothing at The Pub promises to be an evening which is also not so easily forgotten!
