Taste fest awaits! The Malta International Food Festival returns to Floriana next week
Mid-August, among heat and business shutdowns, also marks the return of the annual International Food Festival that celebrates global cuisines. For five days, between 6th and 10th August, from 6pm onwards, the Granaries in Floriana will be filled with food stalls offering over 1000 different food items cooked by around 40 kitchens that will be preparing food from across the 5 continents.
This festival started its journey in 2015 in Mdina with approximately 5,000 visitors. Its success over the years has led to the event now being visited by approximately 40,000 locals and tourists each year.
Of course, Maltese food will be on the agenda, as this event will not only give prominence but will also see strong promotion for local produce. Among those taking part will be the local Biċċerija Pubblika, which will offer a range of traditional meat-based products including mazzit and l-kirxa.
Beyond the delicious food, this event is also a showcase of different cultures and experiences with daily entertainment from international tribute bands as well as a host of local artists. There will also be an extensive children’s area with safe and educational activities as well as themed competitions.
