Techno giant Stephan Bodzin is heading to our shores for a night of hynoptic music and dance. Bodzin is a global phenomenon, having worked with the likes of Marc Romboy on albums like Luna, and more recently, Kerberos & Styx, as well as with Oliver Huntemann. He is known as a ‘storytelling DJ’, taking dance floors through his musical influences and inspirations for a memorable evening which will be hard to beat. Tickets here.
Saturday, 28th April, 10pm – 4am: From Grease to the Black Eyed Peas – Gianpula Village.

Gianpula Village

Music by ABBA, Ed Sheeran, The Beatles, Shakira, Queen, Gigi D'Agostino, Modern Talking, Grease, Enrique Iglesias, Boney M, Shakira and more has been promised, with DJs Alex Grech, Pierre Cordina and Alberto Palmieri spinning tracks. There’s huge demand for tickets, so make sure you get yours early. Hotlines available here or you can buy online here.

And, for something a little bit different – but still promising the same energy – there’s a choice of two this Saturday: Funky Monkey is taking you to the not-so-far-back 2000s for some (slightly) older tracks while Medasia Playa in Sliema promises you will feel at home with its winning combination of beautiful views and house sounds. Go back to Medasia on Sunday for their Spring Sunday event, offering more stunning sunsets and drinks.
Time to move in step:
Saturday, 28th April at 8:30pm and Sunday, 29th April at 8pm: Coincidance: A Midsummer Night's Dream – Pjazza Teatu Rjal, Valletta.

Coincidance Ballet Theatre/Facebook
When Coincidance Ballet Theatre hit the boards, they do so with gusto. Shakespeare's Midsummer Night's Dream has been given a bit of a dance makeover, thanks to the talents and choreographers of the troupe. Form and content are linked with the play’s two storylines linked to different dancing styles: the more abstract, enchanted world of the fairies is performed by contemporary dancers while the characteristic world of the Athens workers is a perfect fit with the stubborn knocking of step shoes. In aid of local NGO Puttinu Cares, its a fun night out for a very worthy cause. For tickets, click here.
All weekend from 8pm - International Jazz Day Festival – Offbeat, Valletta.

Further into the capital, Offbeat is paying homage to one of the most intoxicating music genres: jazz. In celebration of International Jazz Day, this three-day event will feature the likes of the Nadine Axisa Quartet, Swing Nuages and the Francesca Galea Duo, among many more. And, there are special prices for those going for the full three-day event: you can get a one-day ticket for 7 euro or the full whammy for only 15 euro at the door.
Time to be artistically-inclined:
Friday, 27th April at 7pm: Art Additives: Is it Modern or Contemporary – Spazju Kreattiv, Valletta & Saturday, 28th April, 11am – 12pm: Artist's Talk: Broken Dreams - The Architecture of War – Spazju Kreattiv, Valletta.

The weekend would not be complete without some great cultural events – this time courtesy of Spazju Kreattiv in Valletta. On Friday, a guided tour by curator Dr Liang Shuhan (Tao of Nature by Yang Zhiling in Space A, Spazju Kreattiv and The Shape of Volition by Zhang Tingqun at China Cultural Centre Gallery, Valletta) will take place. The event will then culminate in a talk titled Is it 'Modern' or 'Contemporary'? What does 'Modern Art' mean in China?’, which will analyse how modern art has been interpreted and contextualized in China from the late 19th century up until now. Attendance is by reservation, and there may still be some spots left – click here for details. On Saturday, photographer David Pisani will be telling some of his stories: those behind his visual essay on Cyprus and the effects of emotional, psychological and geographical partition. Entrance is free.
