Swimmers were surprised at the unlikely visitor.
As you take a dip in the refreshing waters of the Med during this punishing heatwave, you’ll generally be joined by a number of other bathers, particularly when visiting the islands’ more popular beaches, like Golden Bay, also known as il-Bajja tal-Mixquqa.
But beachgoers this morning were surprised to find a different kind of bather in their midst: a flamingo!
Spotted having a quiet swim a few metres away from the shore, the flamingo appeared unfazed by the attention from the public, with one bather even approaching it to take photos.
Well, who can blame the little guys for taking a cool dip in this heat? We’d love to join, actually!
