Malta’s water polo team wrapped up a standout campaign at the European Aquatics Water Polo Championships in Belgrade by edging Slovenia 14–13 in a nail-biting encounter, clinching an impressive 13th-place finish - one of the country’s strongest performances in recent years.

Throughout the tournament, Malta consistently punched above its weight, recording notable wins against Israel and Slovakia and underlining the steady progress the team has made on the continental stage.

The squad’s efforts were widely applauded by supporters, as the campaign showcased determination and grit but also Malta’s growing ability to challenge more established water polo nations.

This performance in Belgrade offers plenty of optimism moving forward, with Malta now looking to carry this momentum into future international competitions.

Well done, team Malta!
