Well done! Coast is Clear’s latest dive clean up in Marsaxlokk yields a record 1.5-ton haul
Careful, much of what is dumped on land can end up in the sea!

The organisation Coast is Clear has shared some stats on its latest dive clean up in Marsaxlokk Bay, which has been their record haul from the sea bed so far! The team, consisting of Alfred Mizzi Foundation divers, volunteer freedivers and Coast is Clear founder Mark Galea Pace, managed to retrieve a stunning 1.5 tons of waste from the seabed.

A wholesome moment saw people from all over the island coming together with a common goal – to keep the Maltese seas clean while spreading awareness to those who may not realise just how much waste can accumulate in the ocean, partly from that littered on land.

A reminder from the organisation itself is one that’s helpful for everyone to keep in mind: ‘The sea is not our dump yard – what we discard on land ends up in the sea and eventually kills all marine life’.

Well done to everyone involved in the clean up!
