Way to go! Malta's Special Olympics teams win big at the World Games in Abu Dhabi

These athletes are definitely making Malta proud! The Special Olympics team that represented Malta in this year’s Special Olympics World Games in Abu Dhabi came home with quite the stash of medals!

These fantastic athletes brought home 7 gold, 8 silver and 6 bronze medals which were won in the swimming, cycling, athletics, bocce, table tennis, gymnasitcs and bowling competitions.

The first gold medal in swimming for Malta was won by Gozitan Maria Pia Saliba who finished in first place during the 25-metre butterfly swim. To name a few, the other gold medals were awarded to two cyclists Carmelo Pace and Giuseppina Galea, the Unified Bowling teams, singles bowlers and Ann Ebejer who won the 200-metre sprint.

The table tenis team won two silver medals and another was awarded to the gymnasts. Enrique Scerri won the bronze medal for his gymnastic routine and Cedric and Gareth both placed second in bocce and cycling respectively.

These guys are on fire! Congratulations to the whole team!
