Travel on the Brain

When Annemarie Strehl took a working holiday gap year, she had no idea that it would stretch into two and a half years and would lead her to 26 countries, including Malta. Annemarie began logging 30 months of non-stop travel in a series of vlogs - Travel on the Brain, as she calls it - that offer an insight to 137 cities around the world. Here's what she had to say about the main highlights of the Maltese Islands.

Top Things to Do in Valletta, Malta

"There are tons of things to do in Valletta - so many attractions to visit and beautiful architecture to marvel at. So I made a little video about a packed Valletta sightseeing day trip to inspire your Malta trip. Check out the Malta series on the blog for more tips."

Hagar Qim, Blue Grotto + Zurrieq in One Malta Day Trip!

"The region around Zurrieq in Malta is full of amazing finds: ancient temples, a blue lagoon, a deserted island and the only working historical windmill in Malta. Here's where to find everything and how to get around."

A Day Trip to Tarxien Temples + Marsaxlokk in Malta

"The little fishing village Marsaxlokk in Malta is one of the most picturesque places on the Mediterranean island. But Tarxien Temples is one of the most renowned ancient historical sites of the island and its discovery a century ago had quite the impact. So here's how to see both and what to expect."

The Inquisitor's Home in Malta Birgu + Cospicua

"Just a ferry ride (or 20 min bus ride) away from Valletta in Malta, the towns of Cospicua and Birgu have quite the intriguing history to offer. For one, there is the largest and most important fort in Malta - it basically assured control over the Mediterranean Sea. Then, there is the famous Inquisitor's Palace, offering a glimpse into a dark past of witch trials."

St Julian's Bay Malta Isn't Just for Partying

"For nightlife in Malta, Paceville district in St Julian's is the place to go. But what if it's day and you wanna explore but don't want to travel too far? How about a casual harbour walk over to Sliema?"

Top Things to Do in Sliema Malta

"The city of Sliema in Malta is often chosen as a base for exploring the Mediterranean island. While it's not great for sightseeing, there are a few things worth exploring - sights, food, shopping and a nearby kinda abandoned island. Since there is no actual Sliema beach, but here is some inspiration for your next Sliema Malta holiday."

Mdina Malta - What to See on a Day Trip

"Mdina Malta used to be the capital and now it is one of the most famous and historically rich destinations on the Mediterranean island. You should totally plan a Mdina day trip and here are some hands-on tips and insights."

Malta Rabat & St Paul's Catacombs - Would You Enter?

"Rabat in Malta should be included in your travel plans if you love eerie history. How about climbing down into catacombs? I tried it and this is what it looked like."
