An oil rig that has been blocking the gorgeous views of the Three Cities is finally buggering off. It has reportedly been sitting in the harbour for years and various residents expressed concern about the longevity of its stay.

And now, it seems like everyone’s prayers have been answered. The Atwood Beacon at Palumbo Shipyard was towed out, months after local activists and residents spoke out against the oil rig being there, which was an eye sore to say the least. There seems to be another oil rig at the Dockyard which will reportedly be removed by end April.

The ombudsman reportedly confirmed that the Palumbo Shipyard wasn’t supposedly to be berthing oil rigs, saying that Transport Malta ordered the rigs to be removed.
