The views of the sea offered by this trail are pretty much unmatched.
There really is nothing quite like a long walk on a Sunday amidst some of Malta’s best natural sites.
In his latest video, local explorer Pierre Farrugia took his viewers on a walk around Ras id-Dawwara (Rabat) – arguably one of the most beautiful hiking trails the Maltese islands have to offer.
Pierre’s trek started off at Migra l-Ferha, limits of Rabat. This spot is home to its very own parking area, meaning that getting there shouldn’t be a problem.
Hikers are met with two different options when undertaking this trek – sticking to the pre-determined path or walking closer to the cliff’s edge. The former option will make for a smoother, more level walk, whilst the latter option will reward you with better sights of the surrounding cliffs.

Early on into his trek, Pierre could even spot Filfla in the distance!
This spot, Pierre said, is often frequented by astrophotographers due to how far it is from any sources of light pollution.

Every step of the trek rewards you with beautiful sights of the surrounding cliffs – many of which are home to their very own sea caves. This, Pierre said, makes the sea beneath Ras id-Dawwara an excellent spot to visit aboard a kayak.
Around three kilometres from the parking area, the trek becomes a bit tricker as the path gets very narrow and close to the cliff’s edge. Having said that, this area introduced Pierre to a small cave which looked like it once housed its very own residents.

Inside, the explorer observed some dug-out storage areas and loops, presumably to tie animals.
Have you ever been to Ras id-Dawwara?
