The first part of the Msida Valley Road bridge that takes you from Msida to Santa Venera has been opened following extensive works.

The works carried out on the bridge now make it the widest one in Malta, at 23.5m, to cater for the amounts of traffic that flow through that specific area on the daily. The project began last November, and saw the widening of the southbound part of the bridge.

The project included the rebuilding and restructuring of part of the road, which now has a total of six lanes, three on each side. Works on the northbound lanes will also commence on the new structure soon, and the full bridge should be completed in the coming months
