Explorer Angelo Caruana highlights these little-known sites along the Grand Harbour.
In his latest video, local vlogger-explorer Angelo Caruana and few of his friends went kayaking around Valletta’s Grand Harbour and the three Cottonera cities: Cospicua, Vittoriosa, and Senglea.
His video highlights the beauty of these cities, as well as some lesser-known caves he came across along the way. Turns out that the Grand Harbour is surrounded by many of these caves, with the largest one being located exactly underneath the Siege Bell War Memorial!

The trio starts off under the St Angelo Forts, where they entered the first cave. They went on to paddle to Bighi and Rinella Bay before exploring the second cave.
Unfortunately, a lot of rubbish had drifted into the cave due to rough seas from days prior – essentially creating a dam. Caruana didn’t have the resources to clean the scene, so he had to reluctantly leave everything as it was.
They reached the breakwater and moved towards the third cave, which lies under a bridge.
Unfortunately, Angelo and the others weren’t able to make it far into the fourth cave due to the current.

Towards the end of the video, the group paddled through Senglea and made their way to the Cospicua dock before entering the Vittoriosa area.
