What was school like in your day?

Lyndsey Grima

The Department of Malta has shared a nostalgic throwback video that takes viewers back to the 1960s, capturing the charm and simplicity of back-to-school days.

The footage highlights how classrooms, uniforms, and daily routines have evolved over time, yet the excitement and anticipation of a new school year remain unchanged.

The black-and-white clips offer a glimpse into an era when school life was marked by chalkboards, wooden desks, and neatly dressed students, each carrying the same hopes and dreams that fill today’s classrooms. It’s a reminder of how education has always been a cornerstone of community life in Malta.

Accompanying the video, the Department invited followers to reflect on their own school days, asking: “What was school like in your day?”

The post closes with warm wishes for all students embarking on a new academic year, encouraging success, growth, and memorable experiences.

Are you looking forward to the new scholastic year and everything that it brings with it?
